Tonight SAR training was a joint exercise with our sister team from Tavistock.
The scenario for the exercise was that an illegal rave was being held at the obsolete quarry at Burrator. Police intervened the morning after and the following day it became apparent that there are three missing males.
The police had conducted a search of the surrounding area but have not been able to locate them. They contacted the Plymouth and Tavistock teams to assist with the search.
Both teams joined forces in the exercise to search for the missing males. One water team was deployed to search the River Meavy and there where three lands teams deployed in to the fields around the River Meavy and around Callisham farm.
All three missing man where found and treated by the teams. The first casualty was found in the River Meavy with spinal injuries, the second casualty was found unconscious in a bush, under the influence of drugs and the third and last casualty was found in wooded area having fallen out of a tree and broken his pelvis and fractured his right femur.
We would like to thank Callisham Farm for giving us access to fields for the exercise and also our sister team for coming out to train with us on this joint exercise.
