In case of emergency, dial 999 or 112, then ask for ‘Police’ then ‘Mountain Rescue’.

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) is the representative body that exists to protect the freedoms and promote the interests of climbers, hill walkers and mountaineers. They are currently running a season of winter skills films and lectures throughout the country under the umbrella of #MakeWinterCount

Last night Dennis and I attended one of these lecture at Marjon University. This was a fantastic interactive talk given by winter experts Sam Leary and Mick Jones. Both of who have their own companies providing all kinds of outdoor skills and courses.

The topics covered were equipment, clothing, navigation, route planning, avalanche awareness, climbing and much more. The talk was aimed at all levels of experience and kept the audience thoroughly entertained throughout the evening.

We were kindly invited to bring along our merchandise stand and at the end of the talk handed out the latest Mountain Rescue safety leaflets #BeAdventureSmart.
