Yesterday saw over 100 participants and 29 members of the team don their waterproofs and brave the elements to participate in one of the major events that we run, The Postbridge Challenge. Over the past couple of years, the weather has been rather glorious with sunshine and blue skies. Unfortunately, this year was the total opposite, which made it rather challenging for all.
The aim of the challenge is to navigate a circular 10-12 miles walk around Postbridge. Starting and finishing at Bellever car park and stopping at 5 checkpoints along the way. Each checkpoint is manned by a couple of team members and cover the following tors: Broad Down, Lower White, Longaford, and Laughter. Orange flag are placed at intervals throughout the route to help guide the walkers but each team needs to be able to use a map and compass proficiently. Once all the walkers are on their way a sweep team follows behind, checking that everyone is accounted for at each checkpoint.
Hopefully, everyone has now dried out and enjoyed their day on the moor. We would like to say a huge thank you to those that participated and for all of the kind donations received on the day.
