This week’s Tuesday training was in the hands of our current intake of Trainees, who had organised a Search and Rescue Exercise starting from Leedon Tor car park.
Three hill party teams were given the brief to locate and treat two casualties. After collecting the relevant kit and PPE required the teams set off to search in the areas that they had been given.
After thoroughly searching the areas the casualties were located by one of the teams, in the vicinity of Ingra Tor Quarry. Both other teams were radioed by control and were instructed to make their way to the quarry to assist.
On arrival at the quarry the team assessed the scene and it was quickly identified that one casualty was deemed as a Priority 1 category whilst the other was a Priority 3. The Cas Carer set to work running through the usual procedure, and with the help of the teams were able to package them up and safely transport them out of the quarry and on the path.
After everyone was back at the RV, a debrief was conducted in which everyone felt that the evening had been a resounding success. Thank you to our Trainees, for a great evening on a fabulously hot and humid evening.
