In case of emergency, dial 999 or 112, then ask for ‘Police’ then ‘Mountain Rescue’.

Julian had devised this week’s Tuesday training, although numbers were a little low due to our MOD 3’s training elsewhere and our Trainees were having a session at the Rescue Centre. The evening entailed a navigation and map interpretation exercise starting from the Leedon Tor car park. Four small teams were given a list of checkpoints, questions and an old-style map from before most of the team were born 😀 . The aim was to navigate the map to each checkpoint and then radio through to the next team for a question, of which the answer would be found on the map.

It was an interesting and informative evening coupled with a lovely walk around the area. Amazingly the weather cleared up for us, and we were treated to a rather beautiful and warm evening. A big thank you to Julian for organising last night’s training.
